About The Heritage Project

The ECNL Heritage Project was created to help connect high-level players with foreign heritage to federations around the world for whom they are eligible to play, and to track the performance of ECNL athletes in youth and senior national teams in the US and across the world.  

The ECNL Heritage Project was founded in 2024 and since then has grown to include a database of thousands of players, created relationships with dozens of federations around the world, and helped create opportunities in national team camps and competitions for many players.

• 40 current and former ECNL athletes take part in FIFA U17 Women's World Cup (Click here)
• 31 current ECNL athletes traveled to Mexico to compete in the 2025 SuperCopa FMF (Click here)
• Featuring six current ECNL athletes in the team, the US Virgin Islands U20 Women's Team headed to the Dominican Republic to compete in the U20 Women's World Cup Qualifiers. (Click here)
• DKSC's Mya Perez was called into Mexico Youth National Team camp in January. (Click here)
• Eleven current ECNL players headline Puerto Rico’s U17 Youth National Team roster, which will host Group A of the first round of the 2025 CONCACAF U17 Women’s World Cup qualifiers, highlighting the growing impact of ECNL players on the international stage. (Read More)
• At the ECNL Boys Playoffs in San Diego, scouts from the Marshall Islands, Puerto Rico and Samoa were in attendance to scout players, while at the ECNL Girls Playoffs in Seattle, scouts from Australia, Colombia, Marshall Islands, Samoa, and Scotland were in attendance. (Read more)
• This year, 53 ECNL alums represented 11 different countries in the inaugural Women’s Gold Cup - including 13 who helped raise the championship trophy for the United States. (Read more)
• At last summer’s Women’s World Cup, current and former ECNL athletes took the field for a number of countries besides the United States, including Colombia, Jamaica, Nigeria, and South Korea. (Read more)
