The culminating event of the ECNL Girls 2023-24 season kicked off on Wednesday with quarterfinal action in the ECNL Girls Finals for the U13-U17 age groups. 40 teams entered into Wednesday's actions with their eyes set on an ECNL National Championship, but at the conclusion of the day, only half of those teams would remain with their hopes still intact.
Wednesday's games featured a number of close battles, including seven games that had to be decided by penalty kicks. At the U17 age group, Beach FC (CA) advanced into the semifinals with a 1-0 win over FC Dallas and will take on Indy Eleven Pro Academy in the semifinals, following their penalty kick shootout win over Kansas City Athletics, after the two sides finished tied 2-2 at the end of regulation. The other side of the bracket sees Penn Fusion SA take on Legends FC in the semifinals, after Penn Fusion defeated Slammers FC HB Køge 1-0 in their quarterfinal matchup, while Legends advanced past Solar SC on penalty kicks.
In the U16 Champions League, FC Stars Blue advanced into the semifinals following a 3-1 victory over So Cal Blues, while Crossfire Academy survived on penalty kicks after a 3-3 game against Slammers FC HB Køge. Penn Fusion SA advanced into the semifinals with their 1-0 win over Real Colorado National, while De Anza Force defeated San Diego Surf on penalties to also advance into the semifinals.
The U15 Champions League saw Kansas City Athletics advance into the semifinals following their 3-1 win over PDA Blue. They'll take on Eclipse Select SC in the semifinals after their penalty kick shootout win over Legends FC. The other semifinal will be contested by San Diego Surf and Solar SC, after both sides advanced through the quarterfinals with clean sheet victories over Penn Fusion SA and Slammers FC HB Køge, respectively.
San Diego Surf needed penalty kicks in the U14 Champions League to advance past Bethesda SC and into the semifinals, after the two sides finished regulation knotted at 2-2. Surf will take on Slammers FC HB Køge in the semifinals after their 2-1 win over GSA in the quarterfinals. The other side of the bracket saw Michigan Hawks advance into the semifinals with a 1-0 win over Florida Premier FC, while Legends FC advanced into the semifinals after a penalty kick shootout win over MVLA.
Lastly, in the U13 Champions League, San Diego Surf used a 4-1 victory over Eclipse Select SC to advance into the semifinals, where they'll take on Slammers FC HB Køge, who defeated Crossfire Academy 1-0 in their quarterfinal matchup. So Cal Blues and FC Stars Blue round out the final four, after they picked up wins over SUSA FC and Arlington Soccer, respectively.
