Mental Health Benefits of Sports

Sports significantly enhance mental health, especially in children, by improving self-esteem, academic performance, and reducing risk-taking behaviors. The COVID-19 pandemic highlighted their importance, as many adolescent athletes faced increased anxiety and depression during cancellations. Those who resumed sports experienced mental health benefits, while those who couldn't faced worsening conditions, particularly marginalized groups.

Sleep and Injury

Sleep is vital for athlete performance, recovery, and health. Research shows that each additional hour of sleep can reduce injury risk by 30-40% the next day, while chronic poor sleep may increase injury risk by nearly 60% over time. Athletes often face insufficient sleep and poor quality, particularly young athletes. Implementing simple strategies to improve sleep can significantly enhance health and performance.
