The final day of ECNL Regional League Boys Finals meant it was time to start handing out hardware, as ten teams entered the day with their eyes set on becoming ECNL Regional League National Champions.

This year of ECNL Regional League Boys Finals featured some first-time champions alongside some newly crowned back-to-back champions. The competition was fierce in every bracket, and games came down to the wire.

U17 Regional League National Champion - Houstonians FC

The U17 ECNL Regional League National Championship featured a Texas showdown between Houstonians FC and FC Dallas, two high-powered teams that thrive on the ball. 

The game was back-and-forth from the kickoff, with neither team gaining a distinct advantage. Houstonians began creating chances and kept pushing in Dallas' third, eventually winning a penalty in the 13th minute. Jonny Aguilar stepped up to the spot and coolly converted the penalty, giving Houstonians an early 1-0 lead. 

Dallas shot out immediately from the ensuing kickoff, putting together a good attack before a crafty pass from Roberto Flores Jr. put Logan Witt through on goal. Witt slotted it past the goalie, tying the game at 1-1 in the 14th minute. 

Houstonians stayed one step ahead, taking the lead less than 10 minutes later with a solo run from Carlos Reyes Hernandez. 

In the 35th minute, Dallas tied it back up, with Jason Matchniff poaching a deflection off a free kick right outside the box. 

The first half action continued as Reyes Hernandez again showcased individual brilliance on a run from half-field. He took it to the corner, sent a cross in, and the ball was fumbled by the Dallas goalie into the net to extend the lead to 3-2 for Houstonians in the 41st minute. 

Houstonians carried the same play forward, winning a second penalty quickly out of halftime. Jonathan Estrada converted from the spot in the 55th minute with his shot ricocheting off the left post.

However, momentum swung in Dallas' direction after Houstonians' Gabriel Cruz was shown a red card for a dangerous challenge on the goalkeeper. 

Dallas began pressing forward and creating chances in the last 30 minutes. Their break finally came with a long-range free kick from Christian Focht that sailed over the goalie, bringing the game back to one right before stoppage time. 

Dallas kept searching for an equalizer as time expired, but Houstonians held strong defensively, securing the championship with a 4-3 win. 

Reyes Hernandez was named the U17 Most Outstanding Player following the Championship.

U16 Regional League National Champion - Villarreal Virginia Academy 

As the only team from Virginia still in the tournament, Villarreal Virginia Academy brought the trophy home with a decisive 2-0 win on the back of a second half where they were down a man over Playmaker Futbol Academy. 

Villarreal and Playmaker both went back-and-forth with neither team seeming to gain a significant edge over the other. 

However, the momentum shifted towards Playmaker as Villarreal goalkeeper Hayden Elenbuam received a straight red for a reckless challenge outside the box on a Playmaker attacker right before halftime. 

Despite having one less man, Villarreal found the first goal with a shot that rocketed into the top of the net halfway through the second half. 

Villarreal continued to create chances and eventually scored a second, with Taylor Atkinson putting a ball in the bottom right corner after receiving a cross from the left sideline. 

Villarreal held on to win 2-0 and secure the U16 Championship. Atkinson was named the U16 Most Outstanding Player after the win. 

U15 Regional League National Champion - Folsom Lake Surf 

Winning a championship is always an accomplishment worth celebrating. However, going back-to-back in different age groups is something not many teams can claim. Folsom Lake Surf had the opportunity to join the illustrious group with a win in the U15 Championship, with only Houstonians FC between them and glory. 

Folsom Lake Surf came into the final hot, scoring 11 goals total in the previous two games and having yet to concede one. Houstonians advanced from penalties in the quarterfinals and in a seven-goal thriller in the semis. 

Both teams had spent the tournament showcasing their capabilities, and it was finally time to put it to the test. 

Despite the high-powered offenses on both sides, neither team could find the back of the net early. Surf kept pushing forward and creating chances, but Houstonians defense and goalie made stop after stop to keep it level going into halftime. 

The second half seemed to be much of the same. The game was a back-and-forth affair that looked slated for extra time.

Drake Dalton had other plans, breaking the deadlock for Surf by scoring off a deflection with almost 10 minutes to play. 

Surf continued to apply pressure and create chances until the final whistle, winning 1-0 and securing their spot as back-to-back champions across age groups. 

Brady Murphy was named the U15 Most Outstanding Player after a phenomenal tournament stretch that featured multiple goals. 

U14 Regional League National Champion - Houstonians FC 

Houstonians FC won their second ECNL Regional League National Championship of the day with a 3-1 win over the Western United Pioneers. 

Houstonians controlled the possession early, playing passes across the pitch from the back line to the attackers. A few well-worked passes up the pitch got Carlos Santoya to the corner flag, where he placed the ball at the feet of Joseph Zelaya right in front of the net for the first goal of the game. 

Houstonians continued to play progressively and create chances in the final third, with the Pioneers having to operate on the counterattack. 

The Pioneers found the equalizer with an incisive pass from Heedo Noh that Alexander Linna one-timed into the back of the net halfway through the first. 

Santoya would score the go-ahead goal with a long solo run to the edge of the box in the second half. After cutting to the right, he sent a low driven shot to the bottom left corner that went in off the post.

Houstonians would score one more to secure their U14 Championship decisively after controlling possession for a large part of the game. 

Santoya would be named the Most Outstanding Player after the win in part for his great performance in the final. 

U13 Regional League National Champion - Alabama FC Huntsville 

Alabama FC Huntsville made history with their first-ever ECNL Regional League National Championship in a win over Kansas City Surf in the U13 bracket.  

After having not scored a single goal in regulation in the quarterfinals or semifinals, Alabama FC Huntsville scored five in an offensive masterclass and only allowed one goal to cruise to a 5-1 win. 

Kansas City Surf kept pushing forward all game, trying to score goals and catch up, but Alabama Huntsville's goalie consistently came up big as he had all tournament, and their offense kept punishing Surf on the counterattack. 

Alabama Huntsville never relented until the final whistle, capping off a historic season with a championship win.
