This weekend, four of the top-performing clubs in the ECNL Boys will take the field for the inaugural ECNL Boys Super Cup Championship, a culmination of this year's expanded format that saw 24 of the strongest clubs from around the country compete in best-against-best action at three different ECNL Boys Super Cup events.
With the success of last season's initial ECNL Boys East Coast Super Cup and ECNL Boys West Coast Super Cup, won by Florida Premier FC and Seattle United respectively, the ECNL expanded the ECNL Boys Super Cup format this season to include an ECNL Boys Central Super Cup, as well as this weekend's inaugural ECNL Boys Super Cup Championship, held in conjunction with ECNL Indianapolis (April 10-12).
Each ECNL Boys Super Cup regional event brought together eight clubs from the region, each fielding one singular team at the event comprising their top U16-U18/19 players. Qualification for the 2026 ECNL Boys Super Cup was based upon performance across the U16, U17, and U18/19 age groups throughout the 2024-25 regular season and postseason.
"What started as a pilot program for additional, high-level matches on the west coast only a few years ago has turned into one of our league's most exciting platforms," says ECNL Boys Commissioner, Jason Kutney. "This is our version of a UEFA Champions League, offering clubs the flexibility to form their strongest rosters, players the chance to compete for an in-season championship, and scouts the opportunity to add more meaningful games to their annual calendar. Importantly, all these games have been built into existing showcase events to maximize the excitement and exposure for the players."
Beyond the incredible competition, the expanded ECNL Boys Super Cup competition has provided excellent scouting opportunities for players, with the ECNL Boys West Coast Super Cup being held in conjunction with the Surf College Cup Showcase last November, and the ECNL Boys East Coast Super Cup and ECNL Boys Central Super Cups being held in conjunction with the 2025 NCAA Men's College Cup at the visitRaleigh.com Showcase hosted by NCFC. The ECNL Boys Super Cup Championship, will be held in conjunction with ECNL Indianapolis and the ECNL RL Boys Leaders Cup, providing unparalleled visibility for players to all men's college soccer coaches.
