This page will provide the latest weather-related updates for the current ECNL event(s), including schedule changes, delays, suspensions or other important information. In the event that inclement or hazardous weather is present at an ECNL event, the following should serve as standard protocol when severe weather impacts games. If a facility has an established lightning detection system, the league will utilize that system first.
- When and if lightning is detected within 10 miles of the complex, an air horn will blow for 15 seconds.
- Once the air horn sounds, all players, coaches, staff, and spectators must clear the field, bench, and Zone areas immediately.
- The Shoebox follows the same parameters as the ECNL and will cease operations in the event of a weather delay.
- Following the detection of lightning in the area, a 30-minute clock will begin counting down and will reset each time lightning is detected within the 10 mile radius.
- Once 30 consecutive minutes have passed without the presence of lightning within the 10 mile radius, three quick blows of the air horn will signal the return to play.
