DAVIS, CA – The best of the best from ECNL Regional League California took the field for the Continental Tire ECNL Regional League Selection Game at Davis Legacy Soccer Complex.
The East team grabbed the lead in the 31st minute of the match when Bailey Brown (La Roca) put a great ball into the box that was put in by Alicia Katter (Pateadores SC) to give the East the 1-0 lead.
In the early moments of the second half, the East doubled their lead when Sofia Bruce (IR Academy) hit a laser into the corner to put the East up 2-0.
Just minutes later, the East added on their third of the night on a goal from Amaya Reese (Walnut Creek Surf), and then tacked on two more goals to seal the victory.
“It’s pretty special and exciting,” said Eva Nylund (Walnut Creek Surf) after posting a clean sheet in net for the East in the first half. “All the players are really good and know what they’re doing.”
After the match, Sofia Bruce was named the player of the match, helping lead the way for the East with her outstanding goal to open up the second half of the match.
“It was unbelievable and it was such an honor to be here,” Bruce said. Every game I come to win and come to play with a great mentality and never give up.”
